Badges

Badges
Our badges arrived today. If you are in the IGF you have to have badges, right?  As you can see they are kind of modular. You can put a few together to make a little scene. Will people do this? Perhaps on a bag rather than on a shirt.

World Of Love

Wolslide

We did our talk at World Of Love on Friday. Being first on is tough but we did ok and even managed to enjoy ourselves. This was by far our most popular slide!

We were talking about the nature of our collaboration and how the process benefits from us having very different personalities. Ricky has an exuberant creativity, overflowing with ideas and enthusiasm. Whereas I am uptight and cautious in the way I make things. I guess I am all about economy and rules. (Yes I am Bad Cop) Early on this was the cause of some conflict but I think now it is one of our biggest strengths.

The rest of the day was fun too. We saw some great talks, met some old friends and some lovely new people too. Hats off to David for organising it all.

Hohokum Expo Catch Up

Thanks to all of those who attended the Eurogamer Expo at the weekend, and particularly those who attended the Indie Games Festival and checked out Hohokum.

There was a lot of excitement around our demo from press, punters and peers alike who seemed to really enjoy the game.

What was very exciting to see was the very different approaches people had to playing the game. Some people were happy hooning around in big sweeps, others were puzzled at first but then as soon as they had a passenger on their back, they understood. Others got their head round it as the game unfolded, but there was one guy who seemed to understand it immediately he picked up the pad. Watching someone understanding and nailing the race on their first go was impressive, that they then immediately attacked one of the floating guns straight away off the back of the race win was very cool indeed. I think the overriding impression from people was one of laughter and enjoyment - not least at electrocuting the people you rescue. This video shows that reaction perfectly.

One day to go!

Excitement mounts as this time tomorrow people, Real, regular members of the public, will be playing Hohokum for the first time ever. This is because we are part of this years Indie Game arcade at the Eurogamer thingy, Earls Court.

Here is a good article where you can read about all the games and what-not;

It has been a frantic couple of weeks getting our demo up to scratch and I have to say it is looking splendid. I have been drawing backgrounds like a crazy-man. Here are a couple of my favorite background elements;

Osymandius
My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Piunkcedar

this is just a faint parallax element but I really like the shapes. Hopefully someone notices it in-game.
